Works Officer

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Works Officer to assist in the administration and delivery of maintenance, projects and life cycle services in accordance with the requirements of the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Concession Agreement at Hereford County Hospital.

You will ensure all work activities comply with the statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines whilst helping to deliver customer focused, cost effective and efficient technical services.

Role Responsibility

  • Maintain records as appropriate
  • Help with the implementation of specific computer based systems to ensure they are effectively  used and data is updated
  • Manage the work load of the trades staff to deliver the PPM programme and ensuring breakdowns are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Inspect, monitor and support management of technical library
  • Assist in managing  the life cycle programme, ensuring all the relevant data has been collected and collated ready for the production of the business case
  • Manage the induction of contractors, along with their Health and safety while on site
  • Participate in the Manager’s on-call rota after 6 months experience
  • Assess and plan your work to meet the daily requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working within a maintenance environment
  • Proven experience of operations and maintenance of buildings, engineering plant, services and equipment
  • Knowledge of risk management and health and safety 
  • Experience of direct management of a labour force is desirable
  • Knowledge of CAFM systems
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidelines
  • Good communication and customer care skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Proven experience of managing employees, addressing performance issues effectively and maximising engagement, would be an advantage.

40 hours per week, flexible to meet business requirements when necessary.
