Waste Operative

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Waste Operative to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

  • Collect general, plastic, cardboard, glass and food waste bins and bales from across site during an event or raceday in an efficient manner to ensure bins do not overflow and that replacement bins are in situ promptly
  • Collect other waste from site and deliver to the recycling area in the service yard - such as scrap metal, wood and pallets
  • Ensure waste is correctly baled, compacted or packaged as required
  • Actively encourage and communicate with all employees on site on the correct separation of waste streams and importance of recycling and contamination reduction
  • Ensure that the correct bin sizes and waste streams are put in place for racedays and events according to plans and schedules as directed by the Cleaning & Waste Operations Manager
  • Ensure all bins are lined with the correct bag liner - particularly for food waste
  • When emptying public bins, ensure all waste is removed, a clean liner inserted and the external bin wiped over removing any dirt.
  • Correctly store waste in line with regulatory guidelines
  • Ensure all equipment is kept in a safe working order
  • Segregate and store all waste into its correct storage container
  • Ensure all work areas are maintained in a clean and tidy manner

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Ability to comply with service requirements in line with client and company policies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate with others information on waste streams and correct segregation
  • Organizational skills
  • Fork Lift Truck Licence - although not essential
  • Valid UK Driving Licence - not essential
  • Experience of tug operation for bin movement - not essential
