Job Introduction

Sodexo requires a highly experience Waste Management professional, specialising in chemical and pharmaceutical waste, to lead the overall management, co-ordination and control of waste management contract activity across the GSK UK contract. This role will ideally be based at one of our Key R&D sites in Stevenage or Ware however you will be required to travel to other GSK sites on a regular basis.

Role Responsibility

  • Accountable for £2 million annual revenue
  • Direct reports include – 1 waste co-ordinator and 18 to 20 supplier staff
  • Ensure the safe and compliant delivery of waste management services across all GSK sites that are in the contract scope.
  • Delivery of the contractual glide path for the Waste Management service line
  • Delivery of the Innovation programme through self-implemented projects and projects delivered by Sodexo’s appointed supplier
  • Accessing the Sodexo SME support and best practice for GSK ensuring all developments in GSK are widely shared and understood.
  • Maintain and develop a positive working culture and environment for GSK contract employees through sound leadership, effective communication and delegation.
  • Management of client relationships and expectations. Maintain formal and informal communications with Clients and Customers.
  • Financial and performance management of the waste operations contracts.
  • Provide expert waste advice to all GSK waste producers, in conjunction with the waste contractor.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualification or relevant experience in Waste Management Operations (5yrs +),
  • Pharmaceutical experience and strong understanding
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of  UK Waste regulations
  • Qualification in ISO Lead Auditing
  • Proven experience in managing and outsourced service contract
  • Computer literate
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
