Waste Development Manager

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Waste Development Manager on a Permanent basis to join Service Operations due to promotions within the team. We are able to base this role from any location, however it has a UK and Ireland remit so ability to travel to sites is essential.  You would have a good understanding of waste management through qualifications or work experience in multi-faceted environments. Service Operations is the part of our business that supports segment development by providing expertise and process standardisation across all segments. Service Operations leverages our global expertise and best practice to bring the best of Sodexo to all of our clients. It includes everything from FM expertise to food development through to bid support, health and safety, and contract design and management.

 

Role Responsibility

  • To develop and deliver solutions of predictable quality and cost through integration of service lines and standardized market leading waste management practices.
  • To manage work priorities effectively to maintain engagement; highlight issues/risks through appropriate channels.
  • To understand the business priorities and requirements and how the waste management service aligns.
  • To maintain caliber of expertise in order to play an integral role in service design, deployment and innovation work streams
  • To work as an effective team player with other experts to challenge current solutions, mobilisations and working practices to continuously improve and learn from each other within an inclusive culture.
  • Engage and communicate with the waste management professional family and others across the business to ensure we are competently and effectively articulating the waste management service internally and externally.
  • Provide competent advice and assistance on waste management issues across the business through appropriate channels.
  • Play a supportive role in the waste management development programme and regional expertise network.
 

The Ideal Candidate

  • A good understanding of waste management, through qualifications (waste management/environmental science degree) or equivalent and work experience.
  • Knowledge of current environmental and waste legislation
  • Knowledge of the waste management market
  • Experience of selling waste management service within a fast paced, multi-faceted sector
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels
  • Ability to present and write technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Knowledge of costing strategies and working within a commercial/sales environment
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills and ability to balance conflicting priorities
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others
  • Tenacity and determination to get the job done
  • Full clean driving licence with ability to travel to sites (UK wide & Ireland)

 

Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional body i.e. IEMA/CIWM
  • Analytical and data management skills
