Senior Responsible Officer/Practice Tutor Assessor - Advertised on behalf of Essex CRC

We currently have an opportunity for Senior Responsible Officers (qualified Probation Officers and Social Workers) to join Essex CRC. You will take on Practice Tutor Assessor role (PTA) for our learners completing PQIP Qualification.

We are looking for people who would like to support, coach and train the Probation Officers of the future working closely with staff to assess and support individuals on the PQUIP Qualification route as well support PSO RO staff participating on our Practice Enhancement Programme (PEP).

Role Responsibility

As a Senior Responsible Officer/ Practice Tutor Assessor (PTA), you will work directly with service users assessing and managing risk of offending and harm; sentence planning; and supervising and enforcing Community Orders, licences and prison licences. You will assess service users’ needs to achieve community reintegration, monitor their progress and help them to achieve the successful completion of their orders/licences. You will also keep records and prepare documentation and reports.

You will also work with a number of staff supporting them to complete the PQUIP qualification.

Your role will include careful management of risk and determining whether this has risen to the point where serious harm is likely, liaising with the National Probation Service and a range of specialist agencies and contributing to the development of practice for the future.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be required to demonstrate resilience, excellent inter-personal, communication and organisational skills, sound judgement and an ability to resolve complex problems. Successful candidates will communicate enthusiasm, commitment, motivation and the ability to be both fair and firm in challenging situations.

The Diploma in Probation Studies, PQUIP, CQSW, Diploma in Social Work or equivalent qualification is essential for these posts. We have a number of staff currently who have come into the organisation via both Probation and Social Qualification routes.

We would welcome applications from candidates who have recently or are shortly due to qualify as well as more experienced colleagues.

Package Description

Salary £29,038 per annum

37 hours per week, 27 days holiday + 8 bank holidays, defined contribution pension scheme, company sick pay, group discount scheme.

There is an expectation that operational staff work some evenings and weekends to enable service users to be supervised without jeopardising their employment.

The role of Essex CRC is to rehabilitate service users, reduce reoffending and protect the public and we are one of six CRCs operated by Sodexo Justice Services in the UK.  We work with service users both in the community and in custody to deliver the sentence of the court, to rehabilitate them and to provide a range of programmes and interventions to turn their lives around.  We deliver effective offender management and rehabilitation services to low and medium risk service users and our highly skilled staff work in a range of disciplines to make a real difference.  Our aim is to create a better future for the people we work  with – service users, victims and their families and local communities.  We are proud to have strong relationships with other criminal justice agencies, local authorities, health trusts, employment and training providers, and work with contracted partners to enhance delivery to our service users.
