Semi Skilled Technician

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Semi Skilled Technician to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

  • To complete basic plumbing tasks in particular unblocking toilets and drains
  • Supporting the General Site Technicians as required
  • General litter picking and clearance of waste if required to the correct disposal points
  • Supporting in the Cleaning of windows to specification / schedule and all site roads signs / HUM signage
  • Keeping storage areas clean, tidy and assisting with stock taking and asset checks
  • General portering tasks as required
  • To be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety compliance within requirements of risk assessments, COSHH Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Audit actions and any other H&S matters as they arise.
  • To comply at all times with the Company's Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Procedures and to ensure that all work is undertaken in in a safe manner and to a good standard.
  • To ensure that all areas in which work is undertaken are kept in a clean and tidy condition, to ensure minimum disruption to the building occupants, and a safe working environment.
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean serviceable condition and ensure vehicle safety checks are completed
  • To attend training / internal and external courses and toolbox talks where required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed or requested by Sodexo management team in order to meet the operational requirements of the business.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Industrial / Manufacturing environment experience
  • City & Guild 6129-22 or NVQ General Plumbing or relevant experience
  • IOSHH Working Safely or Equivalent preferred
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferably clean
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office / Outlook & Lotus Notes
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Personable nature with the ability to interact with all levels of Associates, colleagues and other onsite contractors
  • Clean, tidy and presentable appearance
  • Ability to prioritise task
  • Ability to embrace DLS
  • Ability to work as a team player and to be flexible as job tasks dictate
  • Ability to provide cover when other team members are on annual leave ect. so being able to come in earlier and / or work later
  • Some weekend working may be required

Package Description

  • We operate Demand Led Scheduling that will be discussed in detail at interview
  • Working 09.00 - 17.30, Monday to Friday 40 hours a week with overtime as required
  • This is a 24 month Fixed term Contract
  • Essential requirement for this position is the successful individual must hold a full UK driving licence and for our companies insurance purposes be aged 25+ and have 2 years relevant driving experience
  • Helping with office / furniture moves and so involves extensive manual handling
  • The successful individual must be physically fit as the role requires working across a large manufacturing site
  • Basic plumbing tasks including unblocking drains and toilets using rods
  • General / basic DIY tasks
  • Litter picking
  • Supporting the Technical Services team in their tasks as required
  • The successful individual will need to be;
    • versatile and flexible so can do additional hours at the beginning and at the end of their working day to support the department when other team members are on holiday, as necessary
  • Have excellent customer service skills so enabling us to continue to provide our Clients and customers with an exceptional level of customer service and care
