Security Analyst

Job Introduction

HMP Forest Bank are currently recruiting for Security Analyst to manage and maintain all intelligence databases and networks effectively. 

HMP Forest Bank serves the courts of Greater Manchester and maintains strong links to the local community with a focus on resettlement. We aim to deliver quality of life services and support people to change their lives for the better.

Opportunities for learning and developing work-ready skills are on offer for all who come in to custody, but our commitment to reducing reoffending in local communities does not end at the prison gate. We support people released from custody through innovative partnerships in substance misuse services in Bury and Oldham, working with people to maintain recovery and lead law-abiding lives.

As well as the 16 residential units on site, there is a healthcare centre, gym, library, workshop complex, visits hall, chaplaincy and kitchen. The prison’s capacity stands at 1,460, holding adult men both on remand or sentenced and young prisoners between the ages of 18-21 years.

Role Responsibility

  • Managing and maintaining all intelligence databases and networks effectively
  • Collate, analyse, disseminate, evaluate intelligence and respond to actions
  • Contribute to meetings with senior management, produce presentations and minutes
  • Maintain and identify any potential weaknesses in security procedures
  • Establish trends and patterns from information received and ensure the relevant information is passed appropriately to line management
  • Effectively manage working relations with both internal and external agencies
  • Maintain integrity and security of the establishment as a whole.
  • Work within and operate all security systems.
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical tasking
  • Complete and analyses monthly statistics
  • Identify and monitor residents of note
  • Complete monthly threat analysis reports
  • Monitor CTU residents and attend path finder meetings
  • Complete CPU tasking – monthly report internal, external, dissemination, liaising with CPU/police, compiling SPR, submission comparisons etc.
  • Carry out criminal conviction clearances.
  • Provide security intelligence for HDC Boards,  OCA reviews and OMU
  • Complete Clearance and risk assessments 
  • Update security markers
  • General administration work – filing, monthly checks, discharges, reception lists, PER alerts for new transfers, tool sheets, tool area risk assessments,
  • Process Use of Force paperwork
  • Check and X ray Legal mail
  • Dealing directly with the PIO – Production paperwork, Intelligence requests paperwork, HOP
  • CCTV, evidence gathering, use for court/police prosecution
  • Drug testing/weighing
  • Providing evidence for CSU adjudications

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Completion of NIAT Analyst course
  • Mercury trained
  • Exceptional experience of working with IT packages
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of diversity issues and commitment to equality of opportunity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Fundamental understanding of law enforcement agencies

Desirable Criteria:

  • Awareness of I2 software package
  • Experience of using prison IT Systems including P Nomis and CMS
  • Experience within the prison service (minimum 12 months)
  • Custody and detention apprenticeship

Package Description

40 hours per week 

Salary £22,189.20 per annum plus 20 days holiday and 8 days Bank Holidays, free meals on duty, gym access, pension and shopping discounts.

Weekend work will be required on rota basis
