Role Responsibility

As a front line practitioner you will be required to manage Court specified sentences and requirements.  This will include the completion of risk and need assessments for service users, and the completion and reviewing of plans which will best support their reduction of offending behaviour.   

These roles also involves the delivery of interventions on a one to one and group basis, including the delivery of accredited programmes that address drink/driving, violence, substance misuse, domestic abuse and other key causes of crime.

The preparation of reports and other documentation is a key requirement of the role and you will be required to liaise with other departments within Essex CRC to ensure continuity for service users during their supervision.

You will also be required to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff from other organisations working with service users.  Making referrals to other organisations and helping service users to overcome potential barriers to access support is a key responsibility, as is the reviewing of the effectiveness of work undertaken. 

As this work takes place under the direction of sentence of the Court, you will also be required to provide information to sentencers regarding the progress of service users and take action to enforce sentences that are not being complied with.

Full training will be provided and you will be required to pass specific training in order to be confirmed in post.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills both in a group and on an individual basis
  • Ensure the key principles of the rehabilitation and reducing re-offending are understood
  • Have the ability to respond appropriately to challenge, conflict or questions from service users and other professionals
  • Demonstrate good verbal, numeracy and written skills
  • Be flexible and show initiative
  • Demonstrate a strong team ethic. 
  • Have experience of working with a variety of people who have experienced a range of social/personal difficulties 
  • Have a basic knowledge of the Criminal Justice System

Package Description

Band 3 - £22,039 to £27,373 (plus unsocial hours payment)

37 hours per week, 27 days holiday + 8 bank holidays, defined contribution pension scheme, company sick pay, group discount scheme.

There is an expectation that operational staff work some evenings and weekends to enable offenders to be supervised without jeopardising their employment.
