Research Technician (Cell Culture)

Role Responsibility

  • Grow and maintain mammalian cell lines (suspension and adherent)
  • Grow and maintain specialised cells (e.g., ALI cells)
  • Prepare cells for assay work
  • Maintain a frozen cell supply
  • Undertake transduction of mammalian cells
  • Generate conditioned media specific for use in cell work
  • Use fluorescence microscopy for cell staining/counting
  • Prepare both routine and ad hoc requests in a timely manner
  • Undertake daily liaison with scientific staff and other team members
  • Undertake ordering and replenishment of laboratory consumables stock as required
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety rules and regulations. Be aware of hazards and recommendations for safety improvements if necessary
  • Operate to approved quality standards (e.g., GLP/GMP) as required
  • Maintain QA systems by keeping accurate records of work undertaken, methods used and results achieved.  Recording experimental results
  • Take ownership of the area used including preparation, maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment such as automated liquid handlers, biosafety cabinets & incubators. To carry out sterility checks routinely
  • Work flexibly depending on team priorities and support requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • BSc in relevant scientific subject (e.g. cell biology, biochemistry or molecular biology) or equivalent experience
  • Some knowledge of cell culture, cell lines, primary cells and aseptic technique an advantage
  • Previous experience of media preparation, cell isolation techniques and molecular biology methods an advantage
  • Ability to follow protocols consistently and to produce accurate records
  • Ability to prioritize and work to deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good team-working behaviours, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements
  • Able to work on own initiative

We are currently looking for a Research Technician with a background in Cell Culture to join our Team working for a leading pharmaceutical company.

 

This position is 6 month temporary in the first instance with potential to be made permanent.
