Prison Shop Administrator

Job Introduction

HMP Addiewell are recruiting for a Prison Shop Administrator.

As a Prison Shop Administrator, you will provide administration and physical support to the running of the prison shop function at HMP Addiewell.

HM Prison Addiewell is a high security prison, with a focus on enabling those in its care to change their life pathway. We have a strong and concerted focus on supporting prisoners to address their offending behaviour through delivery of programmes and working with a range of professionals including prison custody officers. We deliver relevant skills via training and employment and work with all areas of the wider community to ensure that prisoners have the best possible chance of leading positive lives following release. 

We have an effective prisoner peer support model, in which prisoners assist staff in the delivery of classes, programmes and activities becoming positive role models for others.

Addiewell opened in 2008 and has become an integral part of the Scottish Prison Service estate earning much praise for our innovation, use of technology, strong partnership working as well as our “can do” culture.

Role Responsibility

  • Compilation of manual and computer based orders for pick and pack operation
  • Rectifying complaints
  • Assist with physical pick and pack operation (when required)
  • Maintenance and data entry of all purchasing supplier records
  • Gather information, prepare data and set up spreadsheets to demonstrate comparative prices for goods or services
  • Complete stock checks to ensure all consumable items are well stocked
  • Ensure all purchase requests are authorized and approved
  • Compile, collate & order weekly stock requests to suppliers
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports as required
  • Undertake any other duties as required that will contribute to the effective operation of the department or prison as a whole

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Confident with IT packages.
  • Educated to standard grade level or equivalent

Desirable

  • Have previous experience working within a Stores or “Pick & Pack” operation
  • Experience dealing with both customers and suppliers via email, phone and face to face
  • Have previous experience of working within a custodial environment
  • Experience in stock ordering / control

Package Description

£16,500 - £17,500 per annum plus excellent benefits (including free meals and parking, group discount schemes and pension with 28 days holiday)

Occasional weekend work may be required
