Patient Dining Manager (Catering)

Job Introduction

Sodexo Healthcare are currently looking to recruit an experienced Patient Dining Manager on an 8-month fixed term contract, to oversee the provision of patient feeding throughout Hammersmith Hospital, ensuring the standard of food and production throughout the service is maintained for patients.

Particular emphasis will be based on food quality and monitoring of patient catering at ward level. You will implement and manage all the companies’ policies and procedures in your areas of responsibility, training all staff under your control.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure all staff are effectively deployed and developed to meet the needs of the business
  • Work with the hostesses to effectively manage the meal service at ward level ensuring that agreed service specifications are being met
  • Manage the day to day operations in the Diet Bay
  • Ensure all allergen information is kept up to date and communicated as necessary to run a compliant and safe service
  • Work effectively with the stores team to control the provision of foods to the wards and maintain stock levels to meet Sodexo guidelines
  • Ensure that a full weekly stock take of all patient feeding stock is carried out in line with the company trading weeks
  • Ensure all departmental financial targets are met in line with annual budgets and forecasts
  • Report weekly on any variances to budget/forecast on all cost lines
  • Provide accurate labour reports detailing reasons for any overspend and use of Premium Rate Overtime
  • Ensure that extremely high standards of food preparation are in line with the strict hygiene procedure and to achieve 5 stars with the local EHO accreditation
  • Ensure patient menus are compiled efficiently, ensuring wastage and ordering are kept to a minimum
  • Carry out Patient Surveys ensuring the data is collated and provided to management

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in overseeing staff and implementation of best practices
  • Line management experience
  • Computer literate in excel and word
  • IOSH Working Safely and Level 2 Food Hygiene certificates
  • Experience of working in catering
  • Experience in dealing with customers and handling complaints

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely and Level 3 Food Hygiene certificates
  • Knowledge of national patient feeding standards through Better Hospital Food and PLACE

40 hours per week, flexibility is a must due to the nature of the business. Normal working hours Monday – Friday, with additional hours as business dictates
