The Mentoring Manager role is offered on a permanent basis with base location to be confirmed.

We are looking for a candidate with some or all of the following:

  • A level 3 or higher qualification in life long learning or equivalent;
  • Experience of the criminal justice system and managing paid staff and volunteers within the criminal justice system; and
  • Experience of matching the ideal mentor to the service user best met the needs of the individual.

Role Responsibility

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying appropriate mentors
  • Ensuring suitable candidates are trained promptly and appropriately
  • Ensuring mentors can support mentees in achieving their goals
  • Providing feedback to develop mentor practices and address any issues with quality of delivery
  • Delivering and sustaining relationships with Responsible Officers and those who are working with the Service User
  • Working to overcome any blockages to referrals being made and promote the team’s services
  • Ensuring that referrals for Mentoring are acted upon in a timely manner so that a suitably qualified candidate is identified to commence the work promptly
  • Completing quality and implementing the Business Plan for the Mentoring service.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need to be able to demonstrate a commitment to, and understanding of, the need for effective mentoring. The ability to collate and evaluate data to provide regular reports to managers in developing and maintain the service will also be important. Quality and staff development will be at the core of your work so you will need to evidence the ability to do this.  Additionally you will need to be able to demonstrate strong communication, presentation and liaison skills.

Package Description

Starting salary Band 5, £35,549 pro-rated

25.9 hours per week, 27 days holiday + 8 bank holidays (pro-rated), defined contribution pension scheme, company sick pay, group discount scheme.

Interviews will take place on 17th and 18th December.

The role of BeNCH CRC is to rehabilitate service users, reduce reoffending and protect the public and we are one of six CRCs operated by Sodexo Justice Services in the UK.  We work with service users both in the community and in custody to deliver the sentence of the court, to rehabilitate them and to provide a range of programmes and interventions to turn their lives around.  We deliver effective offender management and rehabilitation services to low and medium risk service users and our highly skilled staff work in a range of disciplines to make a real difference.  Our aim is to create a better future for the people we work with - service users, victims and their families and local communities.  We are proud to have strong relationships with other criminal justice agencies, local authorities, health trusts, employment and training providers, and work with contracted partners to enhance delivery to our service users.
