Mechanical/Electrical Senior Authorised Person

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical/Electrical Senior Authorised Person to join our Engineering team within our Service Operations segment.  The role is Home Based with UK travel. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your facilities management career. Sodexo require experienced Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineers to be responsible for the practical implementation and application of Mechanical and/or Electrical Safe Systems at Work, examples being MoD, HTMs and Commercial Systems.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel extensively across all sites within area of responsibility. In return the role offers a competitive salary, bonus, company car and excellent benefits.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Practical implementation and application of Safe Systems of Work associated with Statutory Mechanical and/or Electrical Regulations
  • Ensure, so far as is reasonable and practicable, that all personnel observe and comply with relevant Safe Systems of Work
  • Evaluate, review, appoint and maintain a register of skilled/competent persons (including records of training and areas of responsibilities)
  • Support and mentor Authorised Persons and Skilled/Competent Persons with the Practical Implementation of Statutory Mechanical and/or Electrical Regulations

Assist the Authorising Engineer during:

• Audits of Safe Systems of Work to ensure HSE and Industry Best Practice are being maintained

• Investigations with respect to near misses, incidents and accidents.

Requirement to travel extensively across all sites within area of responsibility

Ensure the highest levels of Health and Safety are achieved across the site

HND, HNC or ONC in a technical or engineering field or similar qualification

The Ideal Candidate

  • Technical background with respect to Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering
  • HNC or ONC in a technical or engineering field or similar qualification

Significant practical experience of Safe Systems of Work including:
• Ability to solve problems and make decisions
• Ability to work on own initiative

 

  • Registered with the Engineering Council as an Engineering Technician and working towards registration as an Incorporated Engineering
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to work with senior client figures
  • NEBOSH or similar H&S qualification

Experience of supervising site operations, including
• Managing staff in the appropriate disciplines
• Planning, directing and controlling activities
• Management of resources to achieve results
• Agreeing scope and priorities of work

Driving licence and the flexibility to travel around the UK

The successful candidate will be expected to be trained as a designate Authorising Engineer.
