Mechanical Technician

Job Introduction

We are currently seeking a highly talented and driven person to work in the one of our Cork sites.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise their workload and have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

You will be working as part of a team but you will at times be expected to work independently and under your own initiative.

Role Responsibility

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety conscious individual to support the operation of a multi-facility pharmaceutical site.  The mechanical technician will provide a pivotal role in support of the site Mechanical infrastructure and operation and maintenance service. As the Mechanical technician, the successful candidate will develop and manage the entire remit for the sites facilities mechanical infrastructure service, and will play a pivotal role in managing related contracts.

The successful candidate will strive to ensure that mechanical services are co-ordinated and support services to reduce downtime to the plant and the site.

  • Manage the workload from the site Asset Management System for planned and reactive calls relating to mechanical installations, Steam plant, HVAC, Chillers, Plumbing, Domestic water and hot water systems.
  • Champion the development of planned and reactive work for mechanical utilities systems on the site.
  • Self-Manage their workload to ensure availability to site for key daily tasks relating to the provision of services to the site.
  • Develop and manage all mechanical procedures and ensure that all aspects of the service is tightly controlled in terms of service delivery.
  • Prepare regular report on Highs and Lows of Service completed during week.
  • Manage aspects of service including the management of sub-contract services relating to areas of work.
  • Work with the Engineering planning function to continuously improve the maintenance programme on areas of key responsibility.
  • To ensure records of work carried out are recorded on Maximo.
  • To agree to work within Sodexo’s procedures regarding performance appraisal, and to support the development of a relevant training and development programme for self.
  • Attend regular client meetings relating to service, where required..
  • Comply with site housekeeping audit program and ensure availability of services at all times.
  • To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Health, Safety & Environmental regulations, permit to work and client procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • To ensure that training received is adequate to self for provision of services to the client.
  • Identifying quick win areas where Sodexo and the site can benefit for own experience to self deliver services.
  • To agree to work within Sodexo’s procedures regarding performance appraisal, and to support the development of a relevant training and development programme for self.

Work as part of the site engineering team in focus groups in all areas.

 

The Ideal Candidate

National Craft Certificate in appropriate Mechanical discipline.

Trade Qualification in Mechanical discipline.

City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical.

Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or Food and Beverage experience an advantage

Experience (knowledge)

  • 3 to 5 Years post qualification in relevant mechanical engineering role.
  • Operating within a regulated environment.
  • Excellent PC Skills & ability to develop and deliver presentations at both client and internal levels.
  • Experience of programme management and development for minor projects an advantage.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Mechanical systems of work.
  • To work within a self managed team of multi-skilled technicians and contractors. Must be seen to add value to core service delivery and should attain to deliver very high standards in terms of work output and quality of work.
  • Manage own and others safety across all contracts under Contract remit.
  • Participate in and attend cross functional meetings.
  • Maintain quality relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Seize opportunities to diversify or increase contractual services.
