Major Events Operations Manager

Job Introduction

We have an exciting position available for an Event Operations Manager for the Open Championship; this role will support the team in all aspects of event management for the 147th Open Championship in Carnoustie and future championships thereafter. In this role you will lead on the creation, planning and delivery of key aspects of the event including event planning, performance, health and safety and delivery. It’s an exceptional opportunity to work in a global business on an outstanding annual event.

Role Responsibility

Due to the nature of this role, there will be the option for the person to work at home some of the time once they are established in the role.

This role supports the partnership between Sodexo and the R&A, driving innovation and providing creative ideas on how to grow the catering operation at the Open Championship. Working across the business with a variety of departments you will effectively schedule, plan, coordinate and execute all areas of our operation.

 

The planning of this fantastic event will draw upon all your project management skills, managing timelines, communicating across stakeholders, cost control and reporting. You will be supporting the creative design, planning of catering areas, working with staffing to ensure the correct people are in place and trained whilst working with the craft team to design innovate food offers.

 

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will need to mobile, travelling to the Client at St. Andrews, then down to our events team at Ascot for meetings, also being on site during the build and the event itself. With experience gained in operational planning of events and catering, you will be highly organised with a commercial view. Customer focussed you will have gained experience in either major events or large venues, ideally with retail knowledge.
