Maintenance Engineer

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer  to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

Duties (A brief overview and not limited to)

  • Assist the Maintenance Engineers to maintain amenities within the site and buildings (Seven Schools).
  • To carry out first line of response and Maintenance under Help Desk request or as discovered for all emergency, immediate health and safety or security risk and matters that severely inhibit normal operations in teaching spaces or impinge on the proper working of the school including out of hours cover (evenings and weekend) if necessary – escalate maintenance issues and faults immediately to line management for further action.
  • Assist in checking lighting levels, change accessible lamps or tubes as required – escalate maintenance issues.  
  • Assist in daily room temperature checks – escalate anomalies to management.
  • Ensure daily that systems and plant are operating correctly – escalate maintenance faults.
  • Report to line management the needs in respect of maintenance, safety and security of the premises.
  • Undertake miscellaneous items of work as directed by Facilities or Site Manager
  • To work safely at all times. Using Sodexo Risk Assements, Method Statement and Safe systems of Work.
  • Report all Health and safe issues to your line Manager.
  • Complete Sodexo near miss cards as required
  • Report all unsafe actions to your line manager.
  • Complete all Sodexo training as directed by your line Manager.
  • Ensure all Plant rooms are kept clean and tidy at all times. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in similar role.
  • Preference given to a trade background and/or handyman skills.
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • This is a physically demanding role and therefore applicants must have adequate fitness levels.
  • Background knowledge of operating peripherals, including:
    • Plant rooms,
    • Fire alarms,
    • Heating systems,
    • Building fixtures and fittings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be available on an “on-call” rota for out of hours call outs.

 

Package Description

40 hour week with variable shift times.1/2 hour unpaid lunch 20 days annual leave plus statutory holidays, flexible leave scheme, pension scheme.
