Logistics Operator - Shipping
Job Introduction

Role Responsibility
As a Logisitics Operator - Shipping you will be responsible for:
- Completing inbound and outbound documents to be ready for collection. Responding to e-mails. Dealing with customer and driver requirements and providing assistance as required.
- Liaising with DHL for heavy items - including pallet collection, manifest completion, recording AWB numbers, contacting drivers.
- Recalling items using the UPS system
- Completing documentation for all shipments, with fail safe documentation for regulated data.
- Checking compliance of cross border shipments with regulations and client requirements and ensure these are correctly addressed.
- Obtain codes for customer liaison with exports to China.
- Inspect packaging of all export shipments and inform the Logistics Co-ordinator/Supervisor should there be any packages that do not conform.
- Check and retain monthly Track and Trace spreadsheets, notify the Import Manager of any errors for amendment.
- Assist with audits as and when required, including audits for HM Customs, Import Export Shared Service, IESS.
- Identify, track and close any major process issues within a timely manner by contacting IESS using a CAPA tracker.
- Load goods onto vehicles using forklift truck if required.
- Secure crates as necessary.
- Ensure that appropriate PPE e.g. safety footwear and uniform is worn at all times and participate in the Health and Safety Policy of the Company and report any dangers or hazards to Management.
- Carry out any other appropriate tasks at the request of the Logistics Manager/Co-ordinator/Supervisor
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times.
- Attend training and development sessions as required.
The Ideal Candidate
The succesful candidate for this role will have:
- Relevant knowledge and experience in Logistics and a similar industry
- Team worker with a flexible approach.
- An understanding of health and safety legislation.
- An understanding of Import and Export
- Ability to lift and balance loads.
- Ability to operate a forklift truck.
- UK driving license.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and in writing).
- Computer literate
- Customer focused
- Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions on behalf of the client.
Package Description
Job Role: Logistics/Inwards Operative.
37.5 hours (Monday to Friday)
Duties include:
Receiving and processing of goods to site
Unloading of courier vehicles - Forklift licence essential
Dealing with customers at service counter
Assisting with shipping coordinator processing items to be shipped out of the business
Good PC knowledge is required
Able to think and work on their own without supervision
