Logistic Services Manager

Job Introduction

We are currently looking for an experienced Distribution and Logistics Manager to join our team at Merville Barracks, Colchester.

As Logistic Services Manager, you will plan, organise and manage the delivery of all services within the Quartermasters and Area Support Unit ensuring service excellence. With a strong understanding of the military stores system, you will be responsible for overseeing the supply of all military bespoke clothing packs and furniture services throughout site. You will also ensure to deliver the logistic output in accordance with MOD regulations and procedures.

Role Responsibility

  • Accountable for delivery of service excellence SLAs in all distribution, logistics and support services
  • Operational interface between the distribution, logistics and support services client(s) and the Contract director
  • Provide direction and expertise to all distribution, logistics and support services
  • Manage, develop and inspire the management of the existing team to ensure a high quality service is delivered, providing coaching and training when required
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement of people, systems, processes and services
  • Support the business development and regional management  teams as a distribution, logistics and support services subject matter expert to identifying opportunities with other clients to maximise profit and growth

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Proven experience in distribution, logistics and support services management
  • Experience of managing a team to deliver service excellence
  • Ability to interpret and utilise financial and commercial information
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Able to achieve set, standards and operate to performance criteria; for example health and safety, hygiene etc
  • Able to manage multiple workloads and shifting priorities
  • Positive approach to learning and owning own performance
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • Experience of delivering training

Desirable

  • Proven experience of management within the MOD in a similar environment including distribution, logistics and support services
  • Working knowledge of the military stores accounting system MJDI (Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory) at UAA (Unit Application Administrator) level, or equivalent
