Learning Designer

Job Introduction

Working in a small team of Designers who are based across the UK, there is the flexibility to either work at home or in our Manchester office. If home based there will be the need to attend meetings in Manchester and occasionally other locations, therefore some travel will be required.

This key role within our Learning and Development team involves developing central curriculum materials for Sodexo UK and Ireland, providing innovative, cost efficient and appropriate learning solutions in accordance with identified learning needs and strategic priorities.

Role Responsibility

Analysing and interpreting business requirements, you will be able to design effective training programmes, which are both aligned to organisation strategy, and create an engaging and interactive experience for learners, using a range of mediums including classroom training, virtual classroom training, e-learning and blended programmes. You will manage design projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring business processes are adhered to and the outcomes are measurable and evaluated. Working with L&D Business Partners to gather business requirements you will also identify, manage and communicate with all project stakeholders.

What the role involves:

  • Analysing identified training needs, and defining and agreeing the most appropriate techniques and training methodologies to meet both business and delegate needs
  • Working in collaboration with subject matter experts to turn often complex business information into clear, concise and engaging learning solutions
  • Managing training projects through their lifecycle, from analysis through to evaluation, in line with internal project management processes
  • Managing multiple projects and stakeholders concurrently
  • Working closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure all materials  are delivered on time, to budget and in line with quality expectations
  • Producing creative and innovative learning solutions that are appropriate for the audience, in line with business requirements, and cost effective to deploy
  • Occasional delivery of train the trainer events
  • Working with stakeholders to analysis the results of learning interventions after deployment, and ensuring any lessons learnt are captured and shared with the team

The Ideal Candidate

  • Significant experience in the design of training materials across a range of mediums with a focus on e-learning/digital.
  • Significant experience in the management of learning design projects through all stages of the training lifecycle
  • Creative thinker with a passion for bringing innovation to learning
  • An excellent communicator, confident dealing with stakeholders at all levels across the business
  • Highly self motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent writing skills
