Head of Costing - Global Technical Services

Job Introduction

 

We’re looking for a Head of Costing (Technical Services) to join our Global Service Operations team who deliver technical consultancy services into Sodexo segments.

As Head of Costing you’ll initially be responsible for building an end to end costing model for the supply of Technical Service Solutions using a proprietary or internally developed costing tool to enable us to standardise our approach to costing Technical Services within segments and Global Strategic Accounts (GSA). You’ll create a library of baseline task metrics for Technical Maintenance and Asset Management job plans that can be applied globally and be responsible for deploying this into Sodexo regions.

Once the costing model tool is established and deployed globally your role will focus on analysing the effectiveness of the tool, developing and optimising it. You’ll challenge the effectives of the baseline task and activity time, as well as actual task delivery times to enable us to deliver a cost effective and best in class service. Analysis will be used to support future bids and improve the efficiencies of operational sites.

You’ll be constantly striving for commercial and service excellence and to support this will build and chair a Technical Services Costing forum with SME’s to review best practice, provide recommendations and make informed decision associated with the ongoing development and deployment of the platform.

To be ultimately successful in this role you will have operated within the Asset Management sector in a commercial, QS, costing or estimating capacity, you’ll understand the principles of maintaining an asset and the service and material costs. You’ll be able to collaborate and communicate across a regionally diverse business and have the ability to lead an indirectly reporting team, your ability to influence and engage will be essential.

You’ll be responsive and able to adapt to changing priorities, resilient, able to act with humility, be willing and open to learn and be a motivated and driven individual. Role Responsibility

  • Build and deploy global Technical Services costing framework and tool.
  • Build and deploy global Technical Services costing policy.
  • Evolve costing framework and tool to reflect service delivery performance.
  • Optimize costing framework to achieve a “best in class” target cost model.
  • Provide instruction, support and guidance to the business to aid the achievement of target cost model.
  • Build and chair Technical Services costing Core Group.
  • Build strong internal networks across the business to maximise outreach and reinforce relationships
  • Ensure that effective communication strategy in relation to technical services costing is developed and deployed
  • To ensure documentation and plans are managed to ensure compliance to methodology and tools
  • Define and follow the platform’s governance framework (in line with function standards) to support successful deployment of Technical service costing related activities and initiatives.
  • Ensure that any issues or risks are highlighted which may impact the successful delivery of deliverables.
  • Maintain strict levels of confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements at all times. 
  • Support the Global VP Technical Services and IFM Systems Deployment to achieve agreed strategic objectives.

The Ideal Candidate

What’s essential:

  • Commercial management, or quantity surveying, or technical estimating experience gained in a Building Services Engineering related discipline
  • Industry leading Asset Management knowledge, experience and capability
  • Highly capable and credible engineering and/or asset management background
  • Detailed understanding of engineering standards and best practice
  • Operational experience and/or knowledge - Optimisation
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to lead a global team of indirect reports
  • Good experience in working in a complex business environment handling the uncertainty and challenges this includes
  • Highly organized and responsive, with ability to deliver under pressure, excellent team organization and coordination skills
  • Excellent documentation skills

Where we can be flexible:

  • Chartered Surveyor or Engineer
  • Higher degree (MSc) qualified in a Building Services Engineering related discipline
  • Good knowledge of project planning and coordination including use of planning tools such as MS Project or similar
  • Experience of SAP and MS Visio
