Head Chef

Job Introduction

We have an excellent opportunity for a Head Chef to oversee the kitchen and all food production for the National Café within the prestigious National Gallery. This role will have responsibility for; planning, organising and communicating between the kitchen, restaurant and wider Peyton and Byrne teams. You will be a leader for safety, hygiene and food quality whilst building a motivated team.

Peyton and Byrne was founded by renowned restaurateur Oliver Peyton in 2005, with a flexible and high quality offering they develop unique products and branding to match the needs and aspirations of their customers. Role Responsibility

You will be working with the management and restaurant teams to ensure all food is prepared to a high standard and within budget. The National Café serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon teas Monday to Friday and closes earlier at the weekend. The role will involve working 5 days out of 7, therefore flexibility to cover weekends will be required. The role will suit someone who enjoys the creativity to change menus and drive the business forward whilst also leading the kitchen team, monitoring costs and ensure high standards.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in managing and leading a kitchen team, with contract catering
  • Strong financial understanding and demonstrable budgeting management
  • Experienced in adhering to and driving company initiatives
  • Strong communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in a standards /compliance environment
  • Relevant qualification and training
