Head Chef

Job Introduction

We are looking to recruit a Head Chef, this role will cover Tyne and Wear Archives Museum and Newcastle City Library. Our heritage is built on catering and hospitality experience and fuelled by our passion for exceptional food and service. For over 40 years we have been providing bespoke catering and hospitality services for sports stadia, racecourses, visitor, attractions, historic venues, major events and premium airline lounges. Recognised across the globe for hospitality, we help create exceptional moments at extraordinary events such as Royal Ascot, Tour de France, The Open Championship, RHS Chelsea Flower Show and the Rugby World Cup.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure the prompt provision and efficient service of all meals and catering requirements as outlined in the contract.
  • Ensure smooth running of all four venues across the collection, overseeing all kitchen operations
  • Ensure that all costs and expenditure are within the budgeted levels agreed
  • Control all costs such as labour, expenses, cash purchases as agreed with your line manager.
  • Ensure tariff prices are correct, that all services are costed and charged according to the terms of the contract.
  • Maintain levels of stock to the agreed establishment targets.
  • Ensure that methods of preparation, production and presentation comply with Sodexo’s standards and procedures.
  • Comply with all Company & Client policies, site rules and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and communicate with the day to day client at every opportunity - holding at least a weekly review meeting.
  • Initiate a process of continuous improvement by undertaking company promotions and extraordinary merchandising initiatives to ensure the profitable growth of the contract.
  • Actively seek and identify opportunities for business growth both within the contract and the external market.
  • Maximise profitable sales by the introduction and maintenance of food service brands to the standard required by the Company.

  • Proven experience in managing and leading a kitchen team
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of external catering developments & innovations
  • Strong financial understanding and demonstrable budgeting management
  • Experienced in adhering to and driving company initiatives
  • Personal innovation and passion
  • Demonstrative customer focus and service skills
  • Strong communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in a standards /compliance environment
