Head Chef

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Head Chef to ensure that patient and restaurant requirements are ordered and produced in accordance with agreed menus. You will deliver a high quality service to patients and staff 365 days a year, ensuring food is delivered in a clean safe environment ensuring policies are adhered to at all times.

Managing a team of 8-10 employees on any one shift, you will be the point of contact for any site issues, so strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise is a must.

Role Responsibility

  • Co -ordinate the production of all meals  for the restaurant and special dietary requirements for patient meals
  • Order all provisions in line with Sodexo ordering policy, to the agreed stock holding level to meet the restaurant and patient needs through Recipe on line
  • Ensure that all areas of the kitchen and food service areas are kept clean and well maintained
  • Report and record any mechanical or electrical defects to the Catering Manager and Norland helpdesk, and take out of service any item of equipment that may pose a risk to service users
  • Carry out routine Quality Control Audits and measure performance levels of each aspect of Catering Services
  • Complete the Recipe on line ensuring menus are planned and sold numbers are completed
  • Manage the kitchen team to achieve the desire results driving forward service excellence and delivering quality
  • Complete daily cashing up in accordance to Sodexo’s trading procedures
  • Assist generally with associated administration duties and deputise for Managers in their absence. Completing monthly returns in manager absence.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous Head Chef experience, with a passion for catering
  • Proven experience in managing a large, diverse team
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an effective team player
  • Food safety level 3
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Food

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing safely
  • Knowledge of trading procedures
  • Use of electronic production planners 
  • Healthcare experience

Package Description

40 hours per week – covering shifts from 7am – 7pm and 1 in 3 weekends.

Flexibility is required.

DBS clearance required (when successful).
