Global EHS Lead

We are looking to recruit a Global EHS Lead to be home based, with travel around the UK and Belgium.

This is an exciting opportunity and one that will allow you to really utilise your skills.

Role Responsibility

• Successful client and third party audits of Sodexo HSE activities across the GSK UK sites.
• Timely reporting and investigation of HSE related incidents and audits. Continuous improvement in the management and reduction of lost time incidents and accident rates.
• Efficient handling of insurance claims resulting in reduction of insurance premium.
• Identify budgetary areas where HSE can have a direct impact on cost reduction/benefit.
• Business Continuity Plan in place and operationally ready for testing.
• Manage HSE related activities and oversee compliance aspects of operational activities carried out by Sodexo for GSK.
• Perform audits of all’ services which Sodexo provide to its Pharmaceutical clients.  These services include Distribution and Logistics, Document Solutions, GMP cleaning, Pest control, Lab services, Records services, Technical lab services, contract management, waste disposal, lab instrument services and facilities management (e.g. buildings/equipment maintenance, calibration, qualification).
• Work with client and Sodexo teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions where HSE deficiencies are discovered.  Influence and coach Senior Management to ensure robust HSE systems are in place.
• Present HSE related topics to local and group senior management.
• Maintain communication with key Sodexo and client personnel.
• Provide guidance and assistance to HSE staff (Sodexo and client).
• Conduct site visits to implement HSE systems, and ensure that statutory/client expectations are being met.
• Conduct training in GxP and QMS topics, to the wider Sodexo operations team.
• Assist the Business development teams in bidding / securing new business for Sodexo

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

• A minimum of NVQ Diploma Level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety Practise, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Chartered status (CMIOSH) or equivalent.
• Food hygiene qualification.
• Environmental qualification such as an IEMA diploma.
• Experience in facilities management and working in a pharmaceutical environment is an advantage.
• Robust knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation & best practice.
• Candidate should have a solid grounding and practical experience of working in a highly regulated environment. The candidate should also have a background in auditing.
• Sets and meets challenging goals & seeks long term improvement.
• Experience of implementing and maintaining EHS systems.
• Reporting: Ability to write persuasive and effective reports and communications, which clearly define findings and their causes, and recommendations made.
• Analytical Skills: Must possess strong analytical skills. The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyse information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem, and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative.
• Anticipates future developments and takes a global view of planning across the business.
• Ability to build client confidence through knowledge and responsiveness is essential.
• Experience managing a team to deliver defined objectives.
• Excellent training skills will be required.
• Continuous improvement knowledge experience preferred.
• Project management experience, including recognized techniques and tools.
• The ability to be flexible, managing a high volume workload with changing priorities.
• Clear thinker with determination and energy, good planning abilities, well-organised and seeking perfection.
• Assertive but personable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a wide spectrum of personalities.
• An influencer - willing to lead by example and work on own initiative.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
