General Operative - Fixed Term ( 3 months)

Job Introduction

We are currently seeking a General Operative to work in the one of our Mayo sites.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise their workload and have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

You will be working as part of a team but you will at times be expected to work independently and under your own initiative.

Role Responsibility

  • To support the deployment of facilities services to the Shell site
  • Log reactive breakdown calls
  • Complete maintenance tasks required as part of the contract
  • Have full knowledge of all areas in the building which are covered by the service
  • Ensyre all areas are maintained to the standard required
  • Have full working knowledge of all tools, equipment, materials and agent and use equipment as directed by your line manager only after correct training given. Report any equipment which us faulty, mark as faulty and do not use.
  • Report any safety hazards or inappropriate compromise to the line manager ie light not working, lifting flooring etc.
  • Ensure that the specified safety signage is used at all times, e.g ert floor, warn/advise customers where possible.
  • To be aware of material expenditure and cost and avoid unnecessary waste.
  • Ensure that all storage areas are kept clean and tidy and equipment stored safety at all times.
  • Comply with all security regulations for materials, equipment and buildings as laid down by the client and Sodexo. Report immediately any shortages or discrepancies found.
  • Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance and general cleanliness to comply with statutory and company regulations, wearing company uniform as specified.
  •  To Deal with any complaints by immediately reporting them to the line manager.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as is necessary to maintain standards in the contract and assist in carrying out the job role efficiently ( some of which may occur outside normal working hours)
  • Provide cover in other areas in times of sickness and holidays
  • Ensure all tools and equipment is kept clean and maintained in safe working order. Report any defects to line manager
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and client site rules and regulations
  • Comply with all company and client polices, statutory regulations relating to Health and Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and chemical safety. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your work place.
  • Complete any minor electrical work as requested
  • Complete landscape works as requested
  • Carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by management.
  • To attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary from time to time. Some of which may be outside normal working hours.
  • To carry out reasonable periods of overtime as may be required from time to time.
  • To train new colleagues by showing them tasks and how things are done.
  • To report and take action on customer and client complaints or compliments and any incidents of accident, fire, loss, damage, and unfit food or other irregularities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • FM experience or equivalent combination of education/trade & experience in a general operative role.
  • Experience and understanding of H&S standards and procedures.
  • Safe pass
