General Manager

Job Introduction

We are looking for a General Manager to work at Hamilton Racecourse, the role involves managing all the catering, hospitality and sales on site, ensuring consistent high standards whilst working to maximise the profitability of the contract. We are looking for a strong leader who can develop the team at Hamilton, someone customer focused to build solid relationships whilst being commercial and results focused.

Role Responsibility

  • To ensure client relationships are maintained at all times.
  •  Recruitment of team members as appropriate.
  •  Attend monthly client meetings.
  •  Facilitate a high support, high challenge performance management culture that motivates an engaged workforce.
  • Undertake duty management and operational shifts as required to support the business.
  • To monitor and maintain the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety, ensuring the Unit complies with all Company & Client policies, site rules and statutory regulations.
  • Ensure that the Unit has a business plan which is reviewed at least quarterly, showing key objectives, goals and measures that link to the overall business plan and strategy.
  • Manage the operations team to ensure that both business objectives are met.
  •  Ensure that stock is managed and liaise as appropriate with other departments to ensure client billing is accurate and timely.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Operational knowledge, skills and experience in a Conference & Banqueting and Public Catering  environment
  • Management of Profit and Loss Accounts and acting on their results
  • Management of a team
  • Proven track record in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills both upwards and downwards, internally and externally
