General Manager (Catering)

Job Introduction

We are currently looking for a General Manager to the take overall day to day responsibility for the operational management of the catering services on site at Airedale Hospital.

You’ll ensure that Sodexo continuously and effectively support the Trust’s clinical needs to the agreed specified Service Level Agreement whilst participating in the development of strategy and the implementation of initiatives and goals, seeing them through to a successful conclusion.

As General Manager you’ll be Sodexo’s main representative on site and will manage the communication strategies between the business and Trust stakeholders.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage the day to day operations and ensure service delivery is of a high quality with an emphasis on standards and the patient experience
  • Prepare and review the allocation of operational budgets to meet the requirements of the contract on both revenue and capital costs
  • Ensure that all financial targets and KPI’s are achieved within a framework of absolute financial control with Risks and Opportunities actioned and reported on a monthly frequency
  • Develop and manage a professional client retention and communication strategy, attending meetings with the Trust as required
  • Business growth/retention and development
  • People management, including development and close management of any Employee Relation issues
  • Ensure efficient and economic use of labour without premium rate overtime or spikes in annual leave
  • Managing debt within contractual requirements and ensuring labour management targets are met
  • Health and Safety; committee to a reduction in accidents year on year

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience of successfully managing client relationships
  • Track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • MHCIMA (or equivalent), completion of National Catering Management Training Scheme, or B/TEC HND plus proven management experience in NHS Catering Services OR industrial equivalent
  • Experience of budget management, food delivery, hospital services
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be persuasive and decisive
  • Literate in IT
  • Commercial acumen and business sense
