Food and Beverage Manager (Mess Manager)

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Mess Manager with a knowledge of Hospitality and Events to perform and supervise the day to day activities in our prestigious combined mess and DUS Kitchen.

You’ll promote and manage functions including planning, menus and costing in conjunction with the catering team and ensuring your team are fully engaged and motivated in order to deliver the high standards of service required.

Liaising with customers and clients to develop relationships and promote Sodexo’s brand is a big part of this role. If you are confident and hands on with good leadership qualities and you have good experience working with Microsoft Excel, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

Role Responsibility

  • Efficient management of the combined Mess including daily catering, functions (hospitality), weekly/monthly events and accommodation services for military mess members
  • Ensuring that we deliver high quality food service to all mess members and customers
  • Manage a large team to ensure a smooth and efficient service delivery
  • Control and monitor the financial performance of the unit and to maintain costs within pre-budgeted targets
  • Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard as per service level agreement, Company policy and current legislation
  • Establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with individuals at all levels within the Company and the Client organisation
  • Implement and maintain the Statutory and Company standards of hygiene, health and safety and take any action as is necessary

     

The Ideal Candidate

        Essential

  • Leadership skills and knowledge
  • People management skills including general HR skills in recruitment, training and managing employee performance including disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
  • Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions

        Desirable

  • Experience of working within military environment
  • Health and Safety qualification equivalent to IOSH managing safely
  • Proven experience of managing client relationships within a contract environment
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team

40 hours per week - evening and weekend work is required, depending on special events and functions
