Fitness Supervisor

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for an Fitness Supervisor  to join our catering team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

Operational Management

  • To manage and develop the fitness facilities including associated areas and activities.
  • To be responsible for the gym/sports/classes, the equipment and all aspects related to the Centre. To make sure all members are correctly screened, inducted and that suitable fitness programmes are issued and regularly reviewed and updated.
  • To be accountable for the class schedule, making sure that classes meet with customer requirements.  To ensure that all classes are covered and that the timetable is reviewed on a regular basis. 
  • Accountable for day-day operations of the Centre, including producing the staff rota,  assigning staff tasks, monitoring the class and sports performance (including leagues), overseeing the performance of all therapists and monitoring the general operations of the Centre.

Financial Responsibility

  • To work within agreed budgets.

  • Responsible for completing the monthly Fitness finance figures (Payroll and Direct Debit), ensuring they are accurate and reflect the reports.  Update the Fitness finance spreadsheet with all financial figures.

  • Complete the global Fitness KPI spreadsheet for the site. 

  • Help achieve agreed targets for income and sales.

  • Be aware of and improve year on year financial performance

People Responsibility

  • Lead the team of staff and maintain effective communication.

  • Recognise and reward team for their performance, using positive leadership skills to develop an empowered team.

  • Responsible for all staff on duty, all visitors to the club and any contractors working at the Centre. 

  • To manage staff effectively, delegating and assigning tasks and developing staff to ensure a continuously high level of service. 
  • Accountable for all people management issues within the team including sickness, absence, appraisals, attendance and any people management issues that may arise.
  • Ensure that the staff are adequately trained in all aspects of their work.  Assist with the Training Needs Analysis for yourself and other members of the team when appropriate.

  • Assist with the development of members of staff to achieve their personal and workplace aims.

  • Lead the team on all aspects of professional customer service by going the extra mile, being positive and demonstrating a ‘can do’ manner

  • Lead team meetings and comms cells to ensure good communication with all team members.

Health & Safety

 

  • Ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of all people on site at all times.

  • To enforce Health and Safety legislation and ensure all staff comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Accountable for the delivery of all SEMS documents for fitness within specified deadlines,  ensuring regular health and safety checks are completed and training records are reviewed and kept up to date.
  • To ensure all equipment and services are properly maintained, service records are up to date and records kept. 

  • To support line manager with all Standard Operating Procedures for the Fitness Centre and refresh as required. 

  • Implement any agreed Action Plan and risk reduction.

  • To be the first point of contact during a Centre emergency or site crisis.

 

 

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Strong customer service skills and experience with at least two years within the fitness industry.

  • To be qualified to a minimum of REPs Level 2 Fitness Instructor – aspiring to be Level 3

  • Service orientated attitude combined with innovative thinking.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of the Fitness Industry with experience in supervision

  • Be self motivated and work under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines is essential.

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of customers and multi-service teams and service personnel to achieve results

  • IT literate

  • Good understanding of anatomy, physiology and physical exercises

  • Experience teaching classes, programmes and inductions

     

     

    Desirable

  • Experience managing people

  • Experience working within a corporate fitness environment.

  • Level 3 Personal training qualified

  • Ability to teach a variety of classes, including Spin
