Fitness Programe Manager

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Fitness Programme Manager to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

  1. Personal Training Policy.
  2. Ensure all users are eligible members or their guests.
  3. Accept responsibility for the security of the sports centre including adherence to opening and closing procedures Carry out fitness appointments and exercise instruction for Shell staff, contractors and Woodbank members.
  4. Take an active part in the organization, co-ordination and operation of Woodbank and Tullos sports activities and services.
  5. Instruct exercise classes as appropriate to the skills, qualifications and experience of the post.
  6. Ensure all users are eligible members
  7. To act as a role model to all of the gym team and to assess employee performance and recognize training needs and potential as appropriate
  8. To ensure training is carried out in line with the company training policy to meet the needs and requirements of the individual and Sodexo and Shell
  9. To ensure that all employees are knowledgeable and motivated about their roles and the business through effective induction, accurate job descriptions and on the job training
  10. To carry out disciplinary procedures following company guidelines and standards
  11. To carry out team meetings on a regular basis and performance reviews for direct reports
  12. To ensure interviews and selection is carried out in a professional manner in all departments, following Sodexo and Shell procedures.
  13. To manage the sports centre budgets and be accountable for such.
  14. To respond in a timely and courteous manner to all incoming telephone calls, emails or instant messages, directing customers and queries as appropriate.
  15. Wear leisure uniform, look tidy and professional and abide by personal hygiene rules at all times.
  16. To establish and maintain good relationships with individuals at all levels within the Company and the Client organization.
  17. To always look out for areas that could develop our service.
  18. To pro-actively look to recommend improvements to your work processes by providing suggestions and solutions.
  19. To be responsive to the need to work extended hours or cover additional shifts when requested.
  20. Assist with HSE training of all staff.
  21. Complete Sodexo Managing Safely course.
  22. Act at all times in accordance with Shell and Sodexo on HSE and general house rules.
  23. Perform first aid within your capability and training, ensuring that emergency services are called if required and all incidents reported.
  24. Provide information to departments, groups or individuals on health, fitness or wellbeing.
  25. Assist in the co-ordination of children’s events at Woodbank or Tullos
  26.  

  27. To ensure Health and Safety is given the number one priority by delivering all Safegard administration in advance of and during operations.
  28. To be fully responsible and aware of the evacuation procedures and adhere to them in the event of an evacuation
  29. To record and report all accidents within the location adhering to location and company procedures. Reporting all accidents and incidents to the general manager.
  30. Attend to any reasonable requests made by the General Service Manager.
  31. To attend meetings and training courses as required.
  32. To perform any other reasonable management request

 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  1. Previous fitness instructor management experience in a similar role
  2. Proven leadership and line management skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team
  3.   Experience of managing a budget and interpreting financial and commercial   information
  4. A good level of physical fitness
  5. Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  6. Competent IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  7. Good administrative work practices
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to  communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff at all levels
  9. Good time management and organisational skills
  10. Ability to work well under pressure
  11. Confident, lively and outgoing personality
  12. Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria
  13. Positive approach to learning in role and identifying own training needs as appropriate
  14. Self-motivated
  15. Sense of own initiative
  16. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  17. Flexible approach to role
  18. Reps level 2 qualification
  19. Passion for Health and fitness

Desirable

 

  1. First aid qualification
  2. IOSH Training or equivalent
  3. Qualifications in other fitness related areas eg nutrition and exercise classes
  4. Knowledgeable and interest in a variety of sports.
  5. Ability to give presentations on health and fitness.
  6. Experience in teaching and coaching a wide range of population groups.
  7. Experience of children’s activity camps or working with children.
  8. Reps level 3 or above registered with experience of personal training clients or small group sessions.
