Electrical Technician

Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

As an Electrical Technician you will be responsible for amongst other things:

  • Lighting
  • Power
  • Distribution Boards
  • Local Isolators
  • Containment
  • Temporary Installations
  • New Installations
  • Portable Appliance Testing

All work is to be carried out in a safe manner and to a high standard, conforming to the IEE  Regulations/HTM requirements all statutory and legal requirements, particularly in relation to Health & Safety at Work Act and the IEE Regulations/HTM’s as well as site specific guidelines / requirements.

In addition to the above you be required to assist existing Sodexo team members and specialist subcontractors as and when required.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Qualifications / Experience

  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

  • BS7671IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations

  • City and Guilds 2391-10 Inspection and Testing of Electrical Systems

  • Experience of Electrical maintenance / installations

  • Ability to use initiative and undertake core tasks independently

  • IT Literate

  • Technical expertise in specific area of work

  1. Level 3 engineering maintenance or equivalent  (NVQ)   

  1. Advanced fault finding and diagnostic skills

  2. Good communications skills, ability to present engineering issues to staff and customer

  3. Mentoring skills

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • Time served electrical apprenticeship

  • Portable Appliance Testing qualifications and experience

  • IPAF (Powered access licence)

  • City and Guilds 2396 Design Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations

  • HV/LV experience

  • COMPEX Hazardous Areas and Potentially Explosive Atmospheres (Modules EX01-EX04

  • Good understanding of engineering principles

  • Poses a good understanding of GMP regulations.

  • General building maintenance skills / experience

Must possess a proactive and can do attitude and a focus on safety.

Package Description

We are currently looking to recruit a facilities maintenance engineer for a permanent/full time role at one of our sites in Leeds.

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day running of the technical services operations, this is a hands-on role and will include carrying out various reactive and planned maintenance duties, as well as management of contractors and all associated H&S requirements.

 

Location: Morley, Leeds LS27

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000

Duration: Full time permanent

 

Duties to include:

  • Carry out general maintenance (handyman, electrical etc.)
  • First response to breakdowns (basic diagnostics to ensure correct trade/specialist mobilised)
  • Organise and schedule reactive and planned maintenance
  • Management of company and client appointed contractors
  • Carry out point of work H&S assessments
  • Review RAMS and authorise/issue permit to work
  • Assist with projects, shutdowns etc.
  • Ensure legal compliance with all services (gas, electric, f-gas etc.)
  • Deal with MOC, CSCF, CAPA etc. for client
  • Collect metrics and compile/present reports for weekly/monthly management meetings
  • Liaise with tech/site services managers to ensure smooth running of site
  • Drive improvements and energy saving measures

 

Candidate to have;

  • Building services background (with electrical bias preferable)
  • Experience in managing contractors and H&S
  • Self-motivation with the ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
  • Flexibility with working hours (some weekend work will be required)
  • Problem solve under pressure and route cause analysis
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly (with tech and non-tech people) both verbally and with reports
  • Approachable and customer focussed
