Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

As a Domestic Assistantyou will be responsible for:

 

  • Providing a cleaning service in a residential healthcare environment
  • Maintaining the general cleanliness designated areas
  • Bed making and linen management
  • Washing linen
  • Ironing, and tasks of a similar nature

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Experience of general cleaning methods and techniques
  • An awareness of health and safety requirements
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work on one’s initiative are prerequisite
  • A self motivated attitude
  • Possess good interpersonal skills
  • BICs cleaning qualification or equivalent are also desirable, but not essential

    Package Description

    Purpose of the Job;

    The removal of dust, dirt and debris and liquids to prevent the spread of infection; to preserve the life of our hospital including the fabric and furnishings whilst providing a clinical and socially acceptable hospital environment. This would include all wards, departments and public area.
    The hours for this job are 5.00pm-8.00pm Monday to Friday.

    Main Assignments;

    • Carry out all routine cleaning duties at the prescribed times and in compliance with each wards specific policies and procedures at all times.
    • Use and care of approved cleaning materials and equipment at all times in accordance with the operation instructions.
    • Ensure that all equipment and materials are used and stored safely in compliance with current COSHH regulations.
    • Specific Duties will include but may not be limited to;
    1. Vacuuming, mopping and scrubbing floors.
    2. Cleaning of furniture and fittings to include beds, lockers, chairs etc.
    3. Cleaning of bathrooms and toilets
    4. Disposal of waste including domestic and clinical
    5. High and low level cleaning of ledges, window sills, curtain rails etc
    6. Replenishing of soap, Hand towels, toilet Paper
    7. Cleaning of glass partitions and mirrors

    As required, and under supervision, respond to requests for ad-hoc cleaning, complying with any specific infection control or management instruction in respect of specific cleaning needs.

    Main Assignments Continued;

    • Acting within remit of knowledge and always seeking advice if unsure in a helpful and cheerful manner when dealing directly with patients and visitors.
    • Follow trust security procedures in relation to all security keys and access codes.
    • Observe and adhere to our policy on patient confidentiality at all times.
    • Report any damage or defects present in the building
    • Report and record any signs or indications of possible infestation
    • Use all provided PPE when required, this could include gloves, aprons, masks, headwear and scrub suits
    • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and be presentably dressed at all times
    • Always wear correct uniform and display correct ID badge always

    The Ideal candidate for this job would have;

    • The ability to follow instructions at all times
    • good customer service skills
    • Empathy with patients and visitors
    • The ability to deal with clinical waste, smells, bodily fluids and dirt
    • Ability to work safely at all times following current H&S Legislation
    • High standards of personal Hygiene
    • Able to work As part of a team, as well as individually.
    • Basic Literacy Skills
