Cost Auditor (FM/Building Services/Supply Chain)

Job Introduction

As a Cost Auditor, you will be accountable for ensuring invoices are paid and accurate, and that transactional commentary is up to date whilst challenging suppliers around value, driving the supplier to enhance that value through benchmarking and cost analysis.

Working closely with the Supply Chain Managers (change control) and performance Managers (PMS), your focus won't be the review of standard Work Orders (WO), you'll be concentrating on the fixed/core supplier fee’s (£6m/month for IFM), therefore we'll need you to demonstrate a good understanding of commercial contracts, in addition you'll utilise your authentic leadership to line manage the Commercial Assistants within the team, as your direct reports.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure contractual compliance of 3rd party supplier invoices & quotes, complete value for money reviews of both reactive and Minor Works (primarily on works over £5,000), challenging and making agreements as necessary on behalf of the client.
  • Ensure that the supply chain is delivering the agreed standard of works and within budget constraints.
  • Certify invoices for payment and facilitate those payments upon the client’s behalf.
  • Provide knowledge and information based upon those desktop audits and highlight potential risk.
  • Providing line management, guidance and technical support to the team of Commercial Assistants
  • Provide support to the Supply Chain Managers (internal/external), Head of Cost Management and other members of the team, aiding in the development of the account & function.

The Ideal Candidate

  • In depth knowledge of Building Services/Estates Management
  • In depth knowledge of property, building fabric and M&E terminology
  • In depth knowledge and experience with standard forms of construction contract
  • Sufficient and relevant experience within the commercial environment
  • Analytical with exceptional numerical skills
  • Data analysis and trending skills – analysing Excel style data sets to identify trends
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail (create written/edit documents and run spread sheets)
  • Motivated to continuously develop technical skills and knowledge
  • Experience of using MS Office, including: Outlook – email and diary management, Excel – create and edit spread-sheets, Word – create and edit detailed documents
  • Graduate calibre (Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, or similar)

Highly desirable

  • Customer/supplier relationship management experience
  • Previous line management experience
  • Experience of working within an M&E related role
  • Previous experience at working within an FM/MA/Integrator delivery model/Building services
  • Experience of working with Verisae/Accruent
  • MRICS qualified, or working towards qualification
  • NEC3 Term Service Contract experience
