Community Payback Supervising Officer - advertised on behalf of Northumbria CRC

Job Introduction

This exciting role involves Community Payback Supervising Officer working with groups of service users to improve local communities through projects that will provide reparation to society. 

You will supervise groups of service users working on projects to improve local areas, helping them learn practical skills in groundworks & some internal painting & decorating.  You will liaise with colleagues across Northumbria CRC to ensure continuity during their supervision.

You will be expected to impart work-related skills and act as a role model.  You will need to develop a rapport with service users from a range of backgrounds, with the aim of encouraging and supporting them to change their behaviours.  Training will be provided with ongoing support and guidance.

Role Responsibility

  • Model, reinforce and reward pro social attitudes, behaviours and challenge anti-social attitudes
  • Be responsible for maintaining records and attendance logs
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, beneficiaries and service users
  • Organise, run and supervise work placements
  • Maintain discipline and maintenance of Community Payback rules, dealing with any difficulties in a constructive manner
  • Encourage a learning environment and reinforce motivation of service users

The work also involves producing a range of documentation to a high standard as well as liaison with specialist agencies. You will coordinate activities with other functions and agencies, who are delivering work to reduce service users re-offending.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need a current driving licence and will be expected to undertake a competency assessment to drive a minibus.  Work breaks are taken whilst supervising service users on groups.

Package Description

Salary Band 3 £23,039 to £27,784 – full time permanent position

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to complete the role of Community Payback Supervising Officer.  The role is 37 hours per week, made up of 4 fixed days at 9 and a quarter hours, includes weekend working. 

All applicants will start at the salary scale point of £23,039.  The benefits include 27 days holiday, which will incrementally rise to a maximum of 33 days + bank holidays.  In addition, defined contribution pension scheme, company sick pay, group discount scheme.

Travel to work sites and Local Management Centres across the county will be required.  There are elements of lone working in this role.

Prior to interview an opportunity will be available to carry out a shadow shift at one of our projects.
