Commercial Finance Assistant Student Placement

Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Student placement to join our team as a Commercial Finance Assistant starting in Summer 2020. This role would be ideal if you have an interest in Finance. As the Commercial Finance Assistant, provide support in all commercial and financial areas, including but not limited to analysis, reporting, control and risk management. You will also provide support on analysis of month end results by site and work with Operations teams on action plans and be involved in posting monthly stock and bond sales and performing food and bond reconciliations.

Sodexo’s Energy & Resources team serves clients across specialist industries: oil & gas; mining and engineering; construction plus other energy sectors.

We have a dedicated team of 2,000 employees working at over 80 sites in the UK & Ireland region - often in isolated locations both on and offshore.

Onshore and offshore operations are coordinated from our Energy & Resources segment headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Role Responsibility

  • To support the build and maintenance Service Line Costing capabilities in conjunction with Commercial Finance Manager, to include labour, materials, other direct expenses and any other attributable costs
  • To support the creation of specific costing models and link these to standard Sodexo P&L and populate client pricing schedules.
  •  To help identify the root cause of poor or sub-optimal performance, developing solutions to sustainably improve performance.
  • Help manage robust budget and forecasting processes across the business: identifying issues and opportunities and ensuring the FD and senior management teams have plans in place to address them.
  • Support the understanding of synergies driven by offering multiple services
  • Ensure best practise, robust commercial standards are established and promoted at all times
  • To contribute to the success and profitability of Sodexo
  • Promote the managing and negotiating of Health & Safety risks
  • To maintain and develop internal client relationships

The Ideal Candidate

  • Studying for accountancy qualification.
  • Excel skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, willing and able to challenge accepted practices and processes.
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Working to and meeting deadlines
  • Disciplined with a strong orientation towards processes and procedures

Salary will be £15,500
