Job Introduction

HMP Forest Bank are recruiting for two Civilian Recovery Link Workers.

You will provide on-going case management and support for problematic substance users whilst in custody and in the community. Facilitate effective treatment and continuity of care alongside clinical interventions.

Sodexo Justice Services delivers custodial and community rehabilitation services that challenge offending behaviour, protect the public and offer individuals the opportunity to change their lives for the better. We deliver the total operation of five prisons within England, Scotland and Wales and own six Community Rehabilitation Companies in partnership with crime reduction charity Nacro.

Role Responsibility

  • Establish vital links in designated community area’s mapping out services and referral processes to ensure clients have a full range of options when being released from HMP Forest Bank
  • Provide effective, holistic, high quality assessments to people affected by substance misuse and agree with the service user a recovery plan in response to their identified needs, facilitating collaborative working with others where appropriate to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Support mentors and ensure that the recovery care plan in respect of each client is developed, effectively coordinated, regularly reviewed and evaluated.
  • Provide immediate information, advice and support to the client and ensure immediate treatment requirements are met (e.g. leasing with treatment and recovery providers to ensure timely detoxification/ treatment is arranged).
  • Based on the identification of clients’ needs give advice to clients about the various appropriate recovery options available, including community/residential detoxification and residential rehabilitation.
  • Motivate and encourage those individuals who do not wish to engage with services at the initial stage (prioritising those with significant health risks or where their dependence has led to offending)
  • Deliver effective harm reduction interventions including safer injecting, overdose prevention and Blood Bourne Virus (BBV) advice and support.
  • Support individuals throughout BBV screening, testing and follow up treatment.
  • Deliver a range of evidence based interventions including brief interventions and structured psychosocial interventions, in a range of settings, empowering service users to achieve and sustain positive outcomes.
  • Build and develop service users personal strengths, community networks and recovery capital.
  • Ensure that all safeguarding issues, including child protection and protection of vulnerable adults, are dealt with in accordance with Sodexo policies and procedures and also local and national statutory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date service user records, ensuring all necessary information is entered onto the case management system.
  • Deliver the non-clinical substance misuse service in accordance with National Policy and Guidance and local protocols, specifically the Recovery Agenda.
  • Arrange drug testing for all clients on the caseload and collate the results accordingly disseminating this information to ensure risks are managed.

  • Good level of numeracy and literacy
  • Good interpersonal skills and have an Empathic approach.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Have a keen interest in the substance misuse field and a passion to promote and encourage change
