Job Introduction

Role Responsibility
- Direct and coordinate the activities of food service workers in the kitchen and dining areas
- Prepare menus and food within the guidelines issued
- Ensure that each employee follows food safety & health and safety regulations and procedures
- Ensure that all allergen information is updated regularly and that all staff are aware of the regulations and how to advice customer appropriately
- Supervise catered events in terms of food safety and hygiene
- Handle shift schedules for food service workers and assign them tasks on a daily basis
- Make sure that appropriate staff is available at all times in order to meet food service demands
- Ensure that food items are stored in safe place and any expired or near expiry items are dealt with according to company regulations
- Make sure that adequate food supplies are always available
- Check newly delivered products for quality and quantity, signing delivery notes and making sure that all stock is put away tiddly
- Ensure all stock is strictly rotated
- Complete regular stock takes and maintain adequate stock level
- Determinate which supplies and equipment are needed and make a reference list
- Ensure that all equipment is kept in good working order, well maintained and ensuring its safe return after use
- Supervise food preparation activities
- Train food service workers to perform in designated roles
- Assume responsibilities for cash at designated shifts
- Ensure appropriate cleaning and maintenance of food preparation areas and equipment
- Ensure the Food Hygiene, Food Allergen Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations are adhered at all times. To proactively assist the Catering Manager in the preparation and delivery of all H&S procedure and documentation
- To ensure accurate cleaning, temperature, delivery, calibration and all daily records are maintained at all times
- Cover in other areas during periods of holidays and sickness
- Flexible attitude to working hours
- To ensure that all food served are of the highest quality and presentation as specified by Catering Manager
- To ensure correct cash handling procedures
- To cash up at the end of the day and report any discrepancies to line manager
- To monitor and report to manager any issues relating to staff, food safety and health safety

The Ideal Candidate
Experienced Chef/Cook
Real passion for food
Basic food Hygiene ( training will be provided to level 3)
Basic Kitchen Management skills
Competent in the use of a computer

Full Time Permenant contract
Daytime Hours
Monday - Friday. occasional weekend and night cover will be required
37.5 Hours per week
Paid Overtime
20 days Holiday plus Bank holiday lieu days
