Job Introduction

A great opportunity to join the hospitality and catering team at Merville Barracks where you can contribute to providing our service personnel with the high quality facilities and services they deserve.

We have been working with the Ministry of Defence since 1986 and provide a wide range of services to support British servicemen and women serving in the United Kingdom and overseas

Our catering, retail and leisure facilities have been developed to combine high street style restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and leisure services

Role Responsibility

This is a critical role within the busiest kitchen on Colchester Garrison. As the second in command, you will lead a team of Sodexo and Military team members to deliver the largest food offer across the Defence estate.

Working closely with the Head Chef, the PAYD Supervisor and the Centre Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our customers receive an outstanding service every time. Business acumen and people leadership skills are crucial for this role to ensure our customers and client are happy whilst delivering on the Centres' KPIs.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • An NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in professional cookery.
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
  • Excellent business acumen.
  • A passion for customer service.
