Chef Supervisor (Sous chef)

A great opportunity to join the hospitality and catering team at Merville Barracks where you can contribute to providing our service personnel with the high quality facilities and services they deserve.
We have been working with the Ministry of Defence since 1986 and provide a wide range of services to support British servicemen and women serving in the United Kingdom and overseas
Our catering, retail and leisure facilities have been developed to combine high street style restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and leisure services
Role Responsibility
- Deputise for the head chef in their absence.
- Manage a team of civilian and military chefs, KPs and FSAs including delegation of shifts and tasks.
- To provide a first point of contact to our customers and deal politely, professionally and efficiently with any queries and complaints, informing your line manager when appropriate.
- To ensure all catering areas are clean at all times.
- To ensure that HACCP is adhered to by the team.
- To be the operational lead in the kitchen ensuring the high standards set are maintained.
- To coach, guide and support your Shift Leaders to be the best they can be and ensure operational excellence is achieved.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Previous experience of working in a catering operational role
- Previous experience of effectively supervising a team
- Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
- NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent)
- Leadership skills and knowledge
Desirable:
- Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook.)
- Food Safety level 3 qualification.
