Catering Manager (hospitality, catering, F&B)

Job Introduction

As Catering Manager, you'll plan, organise and coordinate all catering activity, ensuring standards of service are achieved, maintained and developed

You'll grow services in order to meet client and commercial expectations whilst maintaining strict budgetary control and you'll continually monitor all food and hygiene standards, driving catering performance through promotional activity and marketing initiatives

Aldershot Garrison is home to 70 major and minor units and organisations. The community of some 11000 comprises of resident soldiers and their families, soldiers on course or attending sporting activities, civil servants and Aspire Defence staff and contractors.  Aldershot Garrison has undergone major redevelopment where 2400 single en-suite bedrooms and new or refurbished technical accommodation was delivered at numerous locations.

Role Responsibility

  • Plan, organise and coordinate all catering activity
  • Ensure standards of service detailed in the contract are achieved, maintained and developed
  • Grow services in order to meet client and commercial expectations whilst maintaining strict budgetary control in line with client and Sodexo expectations
  • Continue to monitor all food standards and hygiene standards and ensure they are maintained at the highest level
  • Drive catering performance through adherence to all promotional activity and marketing initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company
  • Proven experience in catering sector, including stock management, cash control and customer service
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Must have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:- BSC (Catering), MHCIM, HND, City and Guilds 706/1 and 2, NVQ level 2 and 3 and possess an intermediate level food safety certificate
  • Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety
  • CIEH level 3 qualification or equivalent
  • Good numerical and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
  • Able to analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Desirable

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Proven experience of managing client relationships
  • Experience of working in a military environment
