CPU Technical Manager (food technology)
Job Introduction
As Technical Manager (food technology) within the CPU, (Central Production Unit), you'll ensure the safety, quality and legality of all products manufactured on site, through the consistent review and delivery of site standards, at the same time working to minimise waste and the environmental impact of our working processes
The CPU is the Ministry of Defence’s only on-site food preparation facility
We have provided catering and facilities management services to Colchester Garrison and its minor units since 2004. The military base is the home of 16 Air Assault Brigade – the UK’s most rapidly deployable and powerful air manoeuvre fighting formation. The 460-acre site is home to approximately 3,500 military and 750 civilian personnel.
We are a key partner to the Ministry of Defence, running services at major UK and overseas military bases which improve quality of life for our military personnel. Role Responsibility
- Ensure the safety, quality and legality of all products manufactured on site, through the consistent review and delivery of site standards, at the same time working to minimise waste and the environmental impact of our working processes
- Ensure that all UK and EU food safety legislation and other risk analysis systems where appropriate are in place
- Embrace the principles of Collaborative Business Relationships (BS11000), in line with Sodexo’s vision and values

The Ideal Candidate
- Industry knowledge and experience of chill /frozen food manufacturing essential
- Experience of interpreting laboratory results (micro/chemical)
- Hands on experience of accreditation standards such as BRC and ISO
- Level 3 HACCP minimum
- Level 4 CIEH food safety or equivalent
- Proven track record in leading, managing and development of a diverse team
- Proven experience of managing long-term client relationships
- Must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
- Excellent influencing skills for peers and the wider business
- Able to work on own initiative and within a team environment
- Demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
- Computer literate
