CAD Technician

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CAD Technician to join our clients R&D site based in Windlesham, Ascot. This site is based on 47 acres of green land is a truly magnificent place to work. The site has a Costa Coffee and restaurant which employees can benefit from subsidised coffee and fine dining. As an extra perk our client even offers a free shuttle bus service to and from local train stations to make it easier to travel to and from work.  The client also hosts work events throughout the year and family events during the summer.

 

 

Role Responsibility

CAD Technician Main Responsibilities:

  • Follow established CAD standards in regards to layering, dimensioning, text annotations, and other aspects of CAD usage.
  • Producing electronic versions of the technical drawings using AutoCad.
  • Working with the Facilities and Engineering team to discuss and develop designs.
  • Changing and amending designs in-line with client, designer or engineers specifications and requirements.
  • Performs quality control and quality assurance on department specific CAD Data.
  • Survey and measure various systems or structures and transfer information to drawing.
  • Preparing or modifying existing electrical, mechanical and building layout drawings and uploading to a Web based Electronic Drawing Management System for review and approval.
  • Working directly with the Lilly Global IT teams to enhance, test and provide feedback on the performance of the company Electronic Drawing Management system.
  • Ensure that all drawings are produced in an accurate manner and within the required deadlines.
  • Small project delivery including coordination of third parties/contractors/vendors on site.
  • Energy management and metering through ESight, Energy ICT and other energy management application administrator, point of contact for these third parties.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Developing solutions within the constraints of the business for Projects and Instruments including internal stakeholder management and engagement.
  • Innovation through the use of additive manufacturing and prototyping techniques via 3D printer or through external sources.
  • BIM and 3D CAD development within the business, integration into business, innovation through use and delivery.

  • Communication – Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.

 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

•    Substantial experience operating and programming CAD applications (i.e. AutoCAD, LDD, etc.)
•    Sunstantial experience in the FM or construction industry.
•    Strong knowledge of system and CAD software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
•    Strong knowledge of engineering drafting standards, as well as blueprint and specification reading skills.
•    Excellent client relationship management skills.
•    Practical and demonstrated use of Microsoft office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Motivated and ambitious to manage workload to agreed priorities under your own initiative.
•    Experience in creating and maintaining Mechanical and Electrical drawings.
•    Experience of using AutoCAD and 3D AutoCAD (e.g. Revit) software within an Engineering background.

Desirable:

•    Experience within a multi-disciplined Maintenance Environment.
•    A sound knowledge and awareness of engineering systems.
•    Use of Drawing Data Management Systems.
