Building Services Engineer (Shift Engineer)

Job Introduction

Due to continued growth, Sodexo has an opportunity for 9 Building Services Engineers to join our team at a prestigious client site in central London.

Successful candidates will have served a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, HVAC or water systems) and will have experience of working in building facilities management services in a complex commercial environment.

Role Responsibility

  • Complete and issue authorisation to work documentation to a consistent high standard
  • Ensure that all statutory documentation is kept up to date and is available for inspection or audit when required
  • Make sure health & safety and statutory tasks are completed correctly
  • Complete Contractor Inductions following client processes
  • Present Tool Box Talks and complete necessary paperwork, carry out regular task and workplace inspections as per the annual schedule or on an ad-hoc basis, logging all paperwork and findings
  • Ensure all plant room and storage facilities are both clean and tidy with regular weekly inspections carried out and documented
  • To make sure any plant withdrawn from service is isolated, locked and tagged correctly and tracked until back in service utilising the shift log book
  • Assist the Technical Planner by advising of any PPMs that are outstanding and will affect the performance of the building or client reports
  • Prioritise PPMs to ensure all works are completed on schedule and relevant paperwork is completed to a constant high standard
  • Ensure all PPM resultant tasks are raised for defects, tracked & completed in timely manner
  • Ensure any stock or services are ordered correctly
  • Work with the Engineering Manager to keep the agreed budget on target

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Experience of a similar role in a large, complex commercial environment
  • Served a recognised apprenticeship in relevant discipline with City & Guilds/ONC in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in building services/FM engineering environment
  • Experience of electrical, mechanical heating, cooling, ventilation & water systems.
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and written
  • Strong health and safety mindset

Desirable

  • 2-3-year degree with experience and practical work in a similar role OR minimum 5 years’ experience in an M&E role in a similar environment
  • Previous experience of working as an authorised person (AP)/competent person (CP)

Package Description

  • £37,000 - £40,000 per annum
  • 24/7 shift pattern (4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off)
