Assistant Manager (Catering and Hospitality)

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Manager to support our Catering team at our prestigious school in Caterham. You will help plan, organise and co-ordinate all catering activity and hospitality requests to the highest standards. This is an excellent chance to work with a well-established hands-on team.

You will oversee the hospitality co-ordination on site and be actively involved in events such as weddings and other special functions throughout the year.

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Catering Manager, Deputy Manager and Executive Chef and work with them to ensure the highest standards of service is achieved
  • Assist with the co-ordinating of hospitality bookings, and delivery of service to the highest standard
  • Ensure the hospitality services meet client expectations and follows the Fresh Food from Scratch guidelines
  • Monitor and manage team members to ensure they are effective, understand the requirements and work to the highest standard
  • Ensure all documentation is filled in on a daily bases and address any issues with the team
  • Assist with the management and recording of allergens and communicate to staff
  • Manage the front of house team, identify strength and weaknesses and liaise with Executive Chef to ensure that Fresh Food from Scratch is implemented on the counters
  • Continually monitor all food standards, allergy requirements and hygiene standards and ensure they are maintained at the highest level, liaise with the Executive chef, Deputy or Catering manager on any food related issues
  • Drive catering performance through adherence to all promotional activity and marketing initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous catering experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to  communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff at all levels
  • Good standard of Computer Literacy
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to hygiene
  • Positive approach to learning in role and identifying own training needs as appropriate

Desirable

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and Managing Safety Certificate
  • Experience of managing/supervising a team in an educational establishment
  • Experience of delivering training using company guidelines
  • Good standard of financial acumen.

Package Description

DBS required (if successful)

40 hours per week, shifts will cover the hours of 7am – 7.30pm. Evening and weekend work will be required depending on special functions and events. Flexibility is a must.
