Assistant General Manager

Job Introduction

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the restaurant. In coordination with the General Manager, they oversee the development and performance of employees, ordering of food and supplies, and ensure that customers are satisfied with their experience.

Role Responsibility

  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs
  • Deputise for the General Manager in their absence
  • To assist as directed with all aspects of preparation and presentation of food to the company’s standard and ensuring adherence to legislation including HACCP.
  • Continuously anticipate customer needs and ensuring a great experience for each customer.
  • Monitor compliance with company and government regulations, regarding customer service, food preparation and serving, and building maintenance in the dining facility.
  • To undertake Food & Health Safety Audits in relation to service delivery / offer compliance, as requested. All aspects of the relevant catering offer in place and updated as required.
  • Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations & identifying training gaps.
  • Provide coaching for all members of staff to ensure that they preform to the best of their ability
  • To assist with the completion of scheduled checks as per the SMS Food Safety & Health & Safety Manual
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures, banking reconciliation, & till operations.
  • To assist the compilation and delivery of various management reports in Word, Excel,
  • To assist with the planning, organisation and delivery of events scheduled during the year
  • To assist with maintenance of hygiene standards and the cleaning of the establishment to the Company’s standard and the client’s satisfaction General cleaning duties, as required i.e. evening service
  • To prepare and assist in any special functions, which may sometimes be outside normal working hours
  • To attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary from time to time
  • Present a high standard of personal hygiene, including uniform standard.
  • Complete and carry out pre-shift checklists and line ups with team members including team huddles.
  • Accomplish daily administrative duties such as: ordering supplies, new hire paperwork, performance reviews, and training.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP & Health & Safety laws

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have at least two years’ experience in a similar role in a fast-past restaurant
  • Will possess and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities
  • Must have a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
  • The ideal candidate should have exceptional customer service skills, the ability to actively listen, and social perceptiveness skills.
  • Computer literate.to include working knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  •  Barista, training an advantage
  • Excellent standard of English language both oral and written
  • The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team in a rapidly

39 hour week  - Monday – Saturday & occasional Sunday
