Assistant Development Chef

We have an excellent opportunity for a food focused candidate to join our Culinary Team. As an Assistant Development Chef, you will be integral in supporting the culinary development team with tasks in conjunction with recipe creation, recipe testing, service/ brand development and deployment to the wider Sodexo business. 

You will be a creative development chef who is passionate about food and looking to grow within the culinary development role.

It is essential that you are an open-minded team player with a good eye for detail, enthusiastic, self motivated and should have good awareness of current food and dining trends. You should be creative, innovative and ambitious.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Liaise with line manager to agree workload targets and timelines
  • Work alongside culinary creation and testing team for recipe formation, amendments and corrections
  • Update the content of recipes including, quantities, titles and methods, following a consistent format in our online management tool
  • Review and cleanse recipe content and cross reference service lines as required
  • Share and distribute information as agreed
  • Support the process for managing expectations to support segments
  • Work to specific recipe and menu development protocols and processes
  • Ensure all work is fully aligned to Sodexo food management and internal Drive systems
  • Working closely with central culinary team to support the deployment of Service line and Brands
  • Work out in the field with central and segment culinary leads supporting and delivering new and refreshed service lines and Brands
  • Introduce and communicate new menu concepts and ideas to meet the ever-changing market needs and trends.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Good computer skills – able to demonstrate the use of Excel/Office programmes and recipe management programmes
  • Understanding of food techniques, following processes, methodologies and recipe formats
  • Experience in food/hospitality industry including recipe and menu creation, ingredient knowledge
  • Highly motivated and able to demonstrate good level time management
  • Flexibility to travel and staying away from home within UK & Ireland
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of current health & safety legislation
  • Clean driving licence

Desirable

  • Qualified experienced chef /strong culinary background 
  • Previous recipe/product development and testing 
  • Culinary presentation skills / presenting to others
  • Demonstrate good management skills
  • Experience in the food retail Sector in dish and menu development.

Package Description

£30,000 to £38,000 depending on experience and bonus.

To be based in Stevenage/South East area
