Architectural Project Engineer

Job Introduction

Sodexo Energy and Resources has an exciting opportunity for an Architectural Project Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Technical Services Team, executing and managing project works to ensuring they meet the cost and time requirements of the clients. They will provide effective project management of offshore and onshore projects through building client relations, survey visits and job costing, planning and cost controlling, procurement and shipping of materials, allocation and management of workforce, billing, project completion sign off and customer satisfaction checks.

Role Responsibility

  • Compiling costs for clients both on and off shore using suitable agreed client contract rates

  • Designing solutions and feasibility studies for work scopes provided by clients

  • Offshore survey visits, including North Sea and over seas

  • Drawing out surveys carried out on AutoCAD and create concept designs to present to clients

  • Procuring, managing and coordinating logistics of materials, gathering quotes and working with shipping companies to ensuring that the materials arrive at site safely and in a timely manner

  • Allocating frontline project team to jobs depending on skill sets and acting first point of contact throughout project, providing project support to resolve any technical queries

  • Completing work packs consisting of work scopes, MSDS, COSHH, risk assessments.

  • Cost controlling of projects and liaising with clients to ensure client satisfaction is achieved during the complete lifecycle of the projects

  • Looking for ways to reduce company costs while maintaining or improving the service

  • Implementing HSEQ processes and procedures ensuring guidelines are adhered to for projects

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry with a proven track record of results and dealing with multi-disciplined staff
  • Bachelors level qualification or proven experience within a similar role
  • Strong design, engineering and construction background in onshore and offshore environments
  • Ability to understand clients requirements quickly with the ability to transfer them into tasks
  • Ability to demonstrate managerial skills by successfully coordinating projects team and associated 3rd party consultants (structural, electrical, mechanical engineers)
  • Experience of dealing with staff and customers at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Team player, willing to take ownership and responsibility in the role.
  • Be familiar with industry general practice for project management / engineering and have a high level of understanding and knowledge of construction regulations relating to both on shore and offshore environments
  • The ability to provide accurate costs, technical back up, resource and manage successfully from conception to completion
  • Sound financial knowledge with the ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of project estimating, cost control, material specification and project scheduling.
  • Experience of undertaking surveys, strong design and detailing skills and enthusiasm for design philosophies relating to the improvement of end user wellbeing.
  • Experience with interfacing with local authorities, approval bodies in order to obtain necessary approvals
  • Strong IT skills are essential – inclusive of Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project, AutoCad. 3D Visualisation would be advantageous.
