Apprentice

Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Sodexo Management team by ensuring that the service provides a high level of stakeholder satisfaction
  • Contribute to the development of a collaborative and inclusive culture, by sharing information and good practice with others
  • Work cooperatively and maintain effective relationships with others, internally and externally to Sodexo, as appropriate to own area of responsibility
  • Services delivered in a courteous, customer focused and professional manner, maximising the customer journey experience.
  • To provide a welcoming reception and administration service to staff, students, guests and visitors, including but not limited to;
    • Handling enquiries via telephone, email, social media, and computer aided facilities management platforms and face to face.
    • Issue and control of resident and staff keys
    • Provision of a post room service, including the delivery of post and/or parcel notifications to letter boxes as required
    • Take credit card payments, process these payments and complete reconciliation, accounting for all payments taken.
    • Provide information for guests regarding facilities available both on campus and tourist attractions in the local area.
  • To provide an accommodation based administrative service to include, but not limited to;
    • Responding to student enquiries and applications for housing in both University and nominated accommodation
    • Allocation of rooms to all students and visitors in accordance with client guidelines, procedures and quotas
    • Raise invoices for rent and other charges, as well as monitor payments and resident accounts
    • Support in the delivery of customer viewings on an as required basis as well as during open days to support our client and maximise occupancy across the accommodation estate
    • To assist in all commercial business activity
    • Assist with room inspections
 

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Ability to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision and use of own initiative
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly, especially under pressure and in emergency situations
  • Experience of Data Protection, and handling sensitive issues in an appropriate manner
  • Be a team worker with a flexible approach, to include the ability to request and offer support from other team members as required, including liaison with line manager
  • Have excellent IT skills
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, including accurate spelling and grammar and the ability to give explanations clearly
  • Be self-motivated
  • Have an excellent understanding of customer care, including upset and irate customers
  • Experience of working with, and the ability to empathise with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and religions
  • Have experience in computerised accounting
  • Experience of using databases, spread sheets and other computer based applications including Microsoft Office

Job Purpose

 

  1. To assist the Management team in the day to day running of the catering department in the restaurant, prep school café/; tuck & hospitality. (whilst under supervision)
  2. To assist with the effective management for all the catering staff
  3. To assist with ensuring recruitment, government & company compliance of legislation, health & safety, budgets & all staff training is accomplished in the times required. (under supervision)
  4. Working closely with other departments in the business.
  5. To successfully negotiate a broad spectrum of units to complete a recognised management

    Overall Role

     

    The Apprentice Catering Manager is responsible for assisting the Catering Management team in the effective management and delivery of the Catering Service. To complete all studies relating to allocated apprenticeship Sodexo is committed to achieving the highest standards in all area of its operations

     

    Principle Responsibilities

     

  • To assist while under supervision form Management team cafe/tuck, hospitality & restaurant staff and ensure agreed standards are maintained.
  • To ensure the highest standards of customer care are provided in all aspects of Sodexo’s catering operation.
  • To assist under supervision with Sodexo’s Food management systems
  • To promote & participate in an alert and positive approach to H&S in the delivery of all

    Sodexo’s catering services

  • To undertake administrative work under supervision by the management team for the catering department including stock control system for all catering areas.
  • Liaising with other departments on promotions & events
  • Ensuring efficient delivery of any other duties within the scope, spirit & purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by the General Services Manager
  • To assist under supervision in motivate, record & provide training to the cafe/tuck, restaurant & hospitality team
  • To ensure agreed targets are timely achieved regarding training programme
  • Setting high standards in all dealings with customers, staff & suppliers
  • Monitoring, recording and action  feedback from customers ( under supervision )
  • Monitoring sales trends, profitability etc. in consultation with the finance team

  1. Good working level of IT relevant to the position
  2. Good communication & interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate in an appropriate and professional manner with both customers & colleagues at all levels of seniority & liaise effectively with other internal departments.

  5. Stamina & the ability to work under pressure, good at thinking quickly & sorting out problems on the spot, and the ability to stay calm in a crisis.
