Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

As a Domestic Assistantyou will be responsible for:

 

  • Providing a cleaning service in a residential healthcare environment
  • Maintaining the general cleanliness designated areas
  • Bed making and linen management
  • Washing linen
  • Ironing, and tasks of a similar nature

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Experience of general cleaning methods and techniques
  • An awareness of health and safety requirements
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work on one’s initiative are prerequisite
  • A self motivated attitude
  • Possess good interpersonal skills
  • BICs cleaning qualification or equivalent are also desirable, but not essential

    Package Description

    Domestic Assistant (Permanent)

    City General – University Hospital of North Staffordshire

    35 hours per week, 7:30amto 3:00pm (Monday to Friday)

    Salary: Band 1 £14,153 - £14,864 per annum (pro rata)

     

    Please note that this post is subject to the Retention of Employment model (RoE). This means that although you will be employed by the UHNS NHS Trust on a Retained Staff Agreement you will be operationally managed and paid by Sodexo.

    As a Domestic Assistant, you will be expected to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for Trust staff, patients and their visitors in line with the National Standards of Cleanlinessand to deliver a full cleaning service to wards, offices and departments within the Hospital at the prescribed times and in accordance with work schedules, policies and procedures.

     

    The successful candidates must have the:-

    • Ability to communicate with other staff, Trust employees and patients.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Ability to accept and prioritise instructions.
    • Ability to adhere to standards and procedures.
    • Good customer skills.
    • Basic numeracy and literacy.
    • NVQ 1 in Cleaning Building & Interiors or equivalent.
    • Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns.
